Textile jewelry: cords and braids

This workshop will explore a range of textile structures suitable for creating lengths of cord for jewellery. Kumihimo braiding, French knitting, crochet and rouleau making will be amongst some of the techniques covered.

Cords are an ideal way to incorporate colour and texture into jewellery. A variety of materials will be available, such as silk thread, cotton tape, linen, wool mohair and viscose chenille. There will be the opportunity to try out the various structures before choosing which one to develop further. We will also look at how to incorporate beads and finish cords with tassels.
