Design workshop: rethinking ethnic jewelry

Many artists turned for inspiration to primitive and ethnic art, while saying that this is the "real thing". We can indeed see a complete different use of forms, colour and materials. Ethnic jewelry has the same characteristics. In this workshop we will take a close look at different tribes and their jewelry from all over the world. What do all these jewels have in common? What is their big appeal?

There are two possible starting points to create your own design: You translate your findings to our contemporary society. Or you choose one jewel that especially appealed to you and analyse it deeply. Afterwards you rebuild it in your own way. The design you have created, will then be made under guidance in the studio.
