Mokume Gane
In this workshop you will get an introduction to Mokume Gane, which litteraly translates as "wood-grain metal". You will learn how to make metal sheets with intruiging patterns that you can use in your own jewelry designs.
Mokume Gane is an ancient Japanese metalworking technique developed in the 17th century by master swordsmiths. In Mokume Gane, several layers of contrasting colored metals are fusion welded together under very high pressure into one solid block of metal. The unique patterns are achieved by further forging or engraving this block untill you have a beautiful metal sheet at the end.
