Origami in silver
The Japanese art of folding paper - Origami - is at least a 1000 years old and was practitioned at the imperial empire as a passtime. In the centuries that followed it became popular outside of Japan.
Traditionally, origami is made by folding paper without tools to create artistic objects. The basic technique is the same in silver, but now we will use some extra tools to allow the silver to be treated in the same way as paper. We will work step by step to create a figure in silver.
We will start by rolling the silver. You make some testcases in paper to see what the difficulties are and then you are ready to start working in silver. With a soft flame, a couple of tongs and tweezers and some patients and accuracy you can make some amazing pieces in a short time!
