Soldering in silver: Combining sheet and wire

During this workshop we take soldering one step further. You learn how to create three-dimensional forms in silver and how to solder them.

 

During this workshop you get a technical assignment: you design a ring that it half made out of sheet and half made out of wire. When you finished your design, we start working in silver. You learn how to create the different parts of the ring and how to fit them together. During soldering, wire heats much faster then sheet, so you need some patience and excercise to make this ring. Before taking this workshop you need to be able to solder wire smoothly.

 

Included:

• use of the bigger studio equipment
• instruction leaflet
• drink and biscuit

 

To bring yourself:

• pencil
• paper
• an apron if you wish
• silver sheet and wire: thickness 1 mm (for example: sheet 2 by 7 cm, 1 meter of wire)
• basic jewelry materials: round plier, half round plier, flat plier, shear, saw frame and sawblades, drills (0.7, 0.8, 1 mm),needle files, big files, sanding paper, silver solder (hard, medium, soft), soldering flux and dish, tweezer, centre punch, charcoal block for soldering, compass, measering rule, third hand with tweezer, binding wire, steel scriber

Full basic training

A full basic training in jewelry techniques consists of three workshops:

• Technical skills (level 1)
• Soldering with silver wire (level 1)
• Soldering with plate and wire (level 2)

These three workshops offer everything you need to continue your practice at home. If you mastered these techniques well, you can subscribe for all level 2 workshops in the future.

 

If you follow these three workshops in the same year, you get a reduced fee: 450 € instead of 515 €. You must simultaneously register for the three workshops. The order of the first 2 workshops can be changed, soldering with sheet and wire has to be the last workshop.
